Folks who attended the Hope is Alive open mic at the Rex Club in Burney in November experienced a wonderful evening of inspirational talent.
On February 12, there will be an opportunity to experience Hope is Alive! 5 at Lulu’s Café in Redding beginning at 6 p.m.. The event will feature spoken word, singers, songwriters, dancers, and other performers.
The theme of the evening is “The Power of Love.” So anyone who has a song, poem, story or whatever that celebrates the power of love is welcome to come sign up and perform. Those who would like to perform should come at 5:30 to sign up.
Other good news is that there will be another Hope is Alive Open Mike in Burney in May!
Hope is Alive! open mics are sponsored by Shasta County Health and Human Services Agency in conjunction with the Community Education Committee and community partners and advisory boards. Funding for this event is provided through the Mental Health Services Act. To learn more visit www.standagainststigma.com.
This is an excellent way to eliminate stigma, while you meet others and enjoy yourself at the same time. I have been to the event in Burney and highly recommend it
