Burney Library Update

Here is an update on the Campaign for a New Library in Burney from Melanie Kerns, Friends of the Intermountain Library (FOIL):

The New Library Now! fund-raising campaign continues, and we are excited about some upcoming opportunities for everyone to help.

Our goal is to raise the necessary money to remodel the building at 37116 Main Street, currently owned by the Roper family and occupied by Rising Sun Fit Club. The Roper’s are committed to making the building available for purchase by the county (the sooner the better, of course). However, in the meantime, having the building occupied by a viable business is good for Burney, good for the Roper’s, and good for the Friends of the Intermountain Libraries (FOIL).

“Northstate Giving Tuesday” is an event sponsored by the Shasta Regional Community Foundation. It is an on-line giving opportunity, with additional monies made available depending on our ability to interest donors in our cause. This will be a time when you can ask family and friends all over the state (country? world?) to help us here in Burney. More about this will be coming out over the next couple of months.

FOIL is most grateful for all of the support we have received to-date, and we ask that you continue that support for the duration of the project. This is going to be an exciting addition to “downtown Burney,” giving us a library to be proud of.
