Oct 22-23 was a busy, productive weekend for the Burney Chamber of Commerce. After a full (and somewhat late) evening at the Fall Fling. Chamber President, Jill Barnett, was at the Pit River Casino checking with Mike Avelar and Ramon Alvarez early in the morning to assure that everything was prepared for the 3rd Annual Fall Festival.
The Burney Chamber and Pit River Casino are the two primary sponsors for the annual event. This year 22 local businesses helped to sponsor the event.
Occurring just as the fall colors are at their peak, the festival provides multiple blessings for the Intermountain area:
- It’s a fun event for people of all ages
- It helps fund Burney High School sports programs
- It unites businesses and organizations from the Intermountain area in a cooperative venture
- It gives people a chance to sample food and beverages from many local restaurants, breweries, and wineries
Kids loved it because there was a pumpkin patch, hay ride, and fun areas to play.
There was also face painting and pumpkin painting.
The Senior Leadership class guided by Melissa Madden helped to staff the activities and also to keep the event supplied with cotton candy and popcorn.
Members of the Burney High School football team also came out to help after a busy homecoming weekend.
And all the while folks could relax, mix and mingle …
enjoying the beautiful autumn day…

as 1o6 X FM radio from Redding provided music for the whole event.
And so it went, a wonderful annual event.
