James Glaser is running for 2017 Honorary Mayor of Burney. He is raising money for Boy Scout Troop 38 in Burney.
James’ campaign motto is “Be prepared to serve in all seasons.”
He would like to see a “competitive race track around Burney.”
Jim will be placing donation boxes around Burney. You can also give donations for his campaign to members of the scout troop. Every dollar donated counts as one vote. You can vote as many times and as much as you want. This is an election that money can buy.
James joins five candidates, Shaylene Herndon, Mary Frances Unterreiner, Anna Denny, Ralph Freitas, and Dana Hauge who have turned in their applications to run for Honorary Mayor.
There are more people who have said that they will be running for mayor to support various charities. Each candidate will be officially announced as soon as their form is turned in to the Burney Chamber of Commerce. All candidate registration forms should be filed by April 1st.
On April 1st, there will be a “Meet the Candidates” event at Bailey Park at 1 p.m.. Each candidate will be introduced and will talk about the charity that they are running for and and their positive vision for Burney.
The Honorary Mayors race is a fun and creative way to raise money for non-profit charities. Whoever raises the most money wins. Money raised will be divided between the candidates chosen charities and the Burney Chamber of Commerce.
The winner of the 2017 Honorary Mayor of Burney race will be announced at the Ice Cream Social June 29, ride in the Burney Basin Days parade, and be honored at the Burney Fireworks program on Saturday July 1. The mayor will also choose the winner of the “Mayor’s Choice Award” for the parade. During the year, the Honorary Mayor will have the opportunity to represent the town of Burney at public events in Burney and other towns.
People who want to run but have not yet registered for the race can still come to the Meet the Candidates event, turn in their forms and join the race.
Candidate registration forms are available at the Burney Chamber of Commerce or at the Honorary Mayor of Burney Facebook Page.
