The screening team consisted of District 4C-1 Zone Chairman Walt Libal, Burney Lions Club Sight Chairman Jim Crockett, and Lions George Whitfield and Dick Lindgren. They screened 100 first graders and kindergarten students for Myopia, Hyperopia, Astigmatism, Anisometropia, Strabismus and Anisocoria.

“Any student that falls outside the norms is referred to their eye doctor for further exams. On average we will identify about 10% of those screened as needing further exams. We also screen other students of the Intermountain Area as requested by the schools.” said Crockett

Zone Chairman Libal said, “The Lions vision screening program was pioneered here in District 4C-1. We began about a decade ago in the Red Bluff/Redding area. Over the years, the program has expanded throughout the district and Northern California, then into Southern California, and is now spreading across the nation.”
